Thank you for your interest in the EfS home exercise sheets.

There are some important things for you to know before you take the time and ink to print them.
We have produced this set of exercise sheets to support Exercise and Fitness after Stroke (EfS) instructors in encouraging their clients to meet recommendations and optimise recovery by continuing an exercise programme at home. The exercises are from the published evidence based STARTER programme.

Are you a stroke survivor or carer?

If you are a stroke survivor downloading these resources, please remember these were originally designed for EfS instructors already working with stroke survivors (following assessment) to support their home exercise to improve specific impairments.
It would be best for you to find a local EfS instructor or to print these and take them to a physiotherapist who can talk you through which ones are most appropriate for you personally.

Easy to use and adapt

We have attempted to ensure these home exercise resources are fit for purpose. The EfS Instructor can chose to print specific exercises from each component, enabling you to tailor the STARTER exercises, based on decisions made from assessment outcomes. We acknowledge that these sheets will not be suitable for all stroke survivors with regard to content and format.

  1. You can download the whole set of resources from our Membership forum (contact Louise for FREE enrolment) and then have these available on your computer to print as required.
  2. The home exercise resources are available as fitness component downloads, each with an introduction page.
  3. Each exercise sheet has a space provided for the EfS Instructor to add comments/safety reminders or provide further tailoring guidance.

But first

  1. Please ensure you read the introduction and that this is also printed for the client along with the home exercise sheets.
  2. As a responsible EfS instructor, please ensure you read the LLT Guidelines
for Safe and Effective Resistance Band Use
and Chair use (included in the .ZIP file), before tailoring the programme/issuing resistance bands.
