Vicky Johnston is a PSI Theory Tutor and co-developed the OEP Physiotherapy accelerated course with Simon Hanna. She also teaches on the Physio Approaches and PSI Update CPD days. She qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 1996 and has spent the majority of her career working with older patients in community and rehabilitation settings. Vicky also has her CTLLs in Education, d Post Grad Cert in Collaborative Action Research and is a qualified PSI. She has been tutoring for LLT since 2008. Vicky’s main job is with Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, and she is based in an out-patient rehabilitation unit in West Cumbria. She works with patients on an individual basis and also in groups; and sees people with long term conditions such as Parkinson’s, frailty and dementia at all stages of their journey .
Vicky was also a member of the Expert Steering Committee for the ProAct65+ study which compared PSI with OEP and usual care in older people recruited from General Practices in London and Nottingham/Derby and provided advice and expertise to the study team.
Vicky has recently finished her term of office as Chair of AGILE (the Professional Network for Physios working with older people), which has involved participation in many projects, initiatives and consultations on a national basis on issues relating to older people. Outside of work, Vicky has supports the Retired Greyhound Trust and has 2 retired greyhounds. Vicky is an enthusiastic (but not skilled!) trail runner and enjoys exploring the lakes, fells and trails of Cumbria.
